Avenue of the Giants
A world-famous scenic drive along a 31-mile portion of old Highway 101, through the heart of the California Redwoods. There are many stops along the way for hiking, old-fashioned souvenir shops, and overnight accommodations ranging from campgrounds to RV parks to rustic cabins.
Many people spend a few hours just driving the Avenue (with a stop or two along the way). Others plan a relaxing, several day vacation. We recommend allowing at least a full day to see the most spectacular groves and trees, and to see attractions like the famous “drive through tree.”
Be sure to stop at the Redwoods Visitor Center – there are interesting exhibits and a nice little hike, and the staff will be happy to suggest things for you to see and do.
